Oyonnax, the city of twelve murales

Context

Oyonnax, a French municipality located in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes area, is the second most populated city in the department. It is known and recognized for its industrial activity, mainly in the field of plastics processing.

In recent years, the city of Oyonnax has suffered from an image that is solely linked to its industrial activity. As early as 2010, the Mayor of Oyonnax, Michel Perraud, asked himself the question: how to make the city attractive again? This question answers many questions, including the need to change one’s image and increase the number of nights spent. He called on CitéCréation to imagine the creation of a series of murales, each of which tells a piece of the history of this town. They will make you want to come and visit Oyonnax.

An universal message

Thank you to the artists of Citécréation for having made this parade an universal message, transcending the only historical fact. The brilliance of this work, born from your brushes, is a beautiful testimony to our duty to remember... This fresco will then act as a last bulwark against any risk of amnesia.
Michel Perraud
Mayor of Oyonnax
