Fresco circuit BREST

Context

The aim of this project was to promote the heritage and identity of Brest and the Rive Droite district, embellish the urban environment, give new life to the district, and mobilise the inhabitants and actors of the district regarding their living environment.
A very important and strong point of this project concerned the integration through training of young persons on the production sites managed by CitéCréation. Work in connection with the district’s schools and organisations was performed during the inaugurations of the frescos, with poetry, graphic creations, readings, events, etc.

Action / result

The inhabitants were strongly involved and finally satisfied with the results obtained. The frescos became objects that created social cohesion, links between the inhabitants and their neighbourhood. They are also places of popular expression. The walls display the identity of a neighbourhood, a place left aside. They give an identity within the town and outside it, since they have led to an urban tourism project (a brochure to discover the circuit).
