Perpignan: the facades of the Pont-Rouge residence play with Bella dolls
From September 2022, three murals will adorn the walls of the social housing of the Pont-Rouge residence, in the Vernet district where the Bella company’s factories were located.
Gigantic Bella dolls, not in toys but in paint. From this summer, the Pont-Rouge residence in Perpignan will see its walls decorated with three murals of imposing dimensions. Each of the paintings will be 11 metres high and 9 metres wide. A titanic project entrusted to the company CitéCréation, which specialises in the creation of large-scale works.
The wall paintings will feature Bella dolls in an environment reminiscent of the city of Perpignan and the Pyrénées-Orientales department. And the choice of erecting them in the Vernet district is anything but a coincidence: it is in this part of the city of Perpignan that the famous dolls were made.
This is not the first reference to the industrial heritage of the district. In fact, a Bella museum where no less than 500 examples of dolls can be found was inaugurated in 2008 at the Espace Primavera in Haut-Vernet. The frescoes will start to be painted at the end of May and will last until July, with a vernissage planned for September.
