Monumental mural design “Résidence Prés des Plans” VILLE-LA- GRAND

Contexte

In the framework of renovating its entire stock of buildings located at the southern entrance of Ville-la- Grand, Haute-Savoie Habitat offered its tenants facades painted with sparkling colours to combine energy efficiency with aesthetic value. It is now like an open air art gallery that pleases visitors and a reason for the inhabitants to be proud of their estate.

Draw me a bird!

Colour, yes, lots of colours! What other bird but the European bee-eater can offer such rainbow profusion?

The point of departure

How could the buildings be embellished, while at the same time changing the uniformity of a classical thermal refurbishment project, the “Prés des Plans” building linked to the town centre and the inhabitants made to feel proud of their residence?

Action / result

After two consultation meetings organised by CitéCréation with the tenants and neighbours, a rich and adapted palette of colours was chosen to create a dialogue between the building and the environment. It was conceived to match the “Sardinian” colours present in the town centre.
Rooted in the memory of the Hauts-Savoyards as a green haven, the “Prés des Plans” district also has a wide variety of emblematic fauna and flora. It’s also a place for strolling and sports activities for families. Its inhabitants wanted to emphasise these positive points with the creation of two monumental frescos marking the entrance to the residence and giving it a new identity. Birds signal each alley to create a new rhythm and invite visitors to amble in the estate and follow a pedagogical circuit. Thus, the project won the satisfaction of the tenants, no empty flats remain in the buildings and turnover has fallen.
This renovation has given Ville-la- Grand a new and attractive facility that projects an elegant and original picture of the territory.
