The Arkema chemical plant of Pierre-Bénite and Greater Lyon wanted to embellish a large industrial site at the south entrance to Lyon with the production by CitéCréation of frescos on the theme of chemistry.
This gigantic work over a kilometre long and with a surface area of 2,500 m² participates in upgrading what is called the Chemical Valley bordering the A7 highway.
One kilometre long and seen by 17 million car drivers every year, the perimeter wall of the chemical plant of Pierre-Bénite was covered in graffiti. The wall projected a very negative image with a feeling of insecurity, especially since the plant is a Seveso classified site.
The work done with the management and employees of the plant in several co-creation workshops led to the pedagogical concept of making the chemical activity of Arkema accessible to the greatest number. Then the colourful design produced with graffiti artists from Berlin enhanced the image of Arkema’s activity while catching the eyes of drivers on the A7 highway.
