Gerland’s mural; 1998, we remake the match with Les Bleus! CitéCréation celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2018
CitéCréation celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2018. The cooperative enterprise has designed and created more than 750 murals in the hearts of cities, in businesses or in social housing districts.
We open the photo album to present you each week a mural, a monumental wall design or a fresco for social housing.
Twenty years later, we play again with “Les Bleus”, Zidane’s gang!
What can be added to the French football team’s crown in 1998, which made the whole nation so proud?
As the twentieth anniversary of this World Cup approaches, CitéCréation, which is also celebrating its 40th anniversary, wants to remember this interplanetary event, celebrated in its own way by CitéCréation through the design and creation of a 190 m² mural in the innovative Gerland district of Lyon. It is always here that the city anticipates, in terms of urban development.
This architectural trompe-l’oeil in the colours of the 32 countries in competition features a hundred images and objects, souvenirs of Lyon from the 1998 football world cup.
This wall fresco represents the strong points of this district: Halle Tony Garnier, technopole, grandes écoles, research, pharmaceutical companies, a district at the forefront of modernity.
The Gerland district then became the stadium of the football gods… and that of the emblematic “Olympique Lyonnais” (OL) who has since moved to Décines, in its “Light Foot stadium”, on the area of Lyon.
